Where we are located . . .

Cinduli Finca Organica Cacaotera is located in the heart of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. We are about 14 kilometers from the Troncal del Caribe, the road between Santa Marta and Palomino, at La Aguacatera.

The roads within the park are unpaved and the only transportation option here is walking or by Mototaxi. This will apply to the various regions of the Sierra Nevada if you decide to go there. It is all part of the adventure!

First Leg . . . From Simon Bolivar International Airport to La Aguacatera

From the airport you could catch the public STU bus into Santa Marta ($4000 pesos) or a taxi cab would cost around $40000 Colombian pesos.  You should consider spending a few days in Santa Marta which is a beautiful city.

Once in Santa Marta you would want to go to the “Plaza de Mercado” (Carrera 11 con Calle 9).  There you could get on any bus Cootransoriente (smaller bus) that goes direction Palomino in la Guajira.  On your way you will pass “La Aguacatera”, which is also the start of the road to the Lost City of the Tayrona (Ciudad Perdida), this takes about an hour.

Just tell the assistant of the driver that you are getting off at “La Aguacatera” when he/she comes to collect your fare which is $8000 Colombian pesos.

Second Leg . . . From la Aguacatera to Cinduli

In La Aguacatera you will find motorbikes that can take you up to Casa de Tabla (very close to Cinduli) the small community of which we are part. The ride costs $30000 Colombian pesos and it takes about 35 minutes.

IMPORTANT: Try to arrive at the entrance of  La Aguacatera in the morning, before noon, as it usually rains early in the afternoon and it is not very comfortable to arrive all wet.

From Casa de Tabla you will walk the rest of the way to the Finca. It will take about an hour (1.8 kilometers), with very steep hills. We hope you don’t have much luggage! The walk is uphill until you reach the “Welcome to Cinduli” sign. Here begins the valley of our Natural Reserve, which ends at the Buritaca River. You will start descending until you reach your new home, located between the sign and the river. We will be waiting for you.

Please note: to enter the National Park, you will need to pay a entry fee of $15000 pesos per person. This money goes to the community for things like road maintenance.

During the dry season you can also choose to take the Mototaxi all the way to the Finca. If you have a heavy backpack, this will be your best option. From La Aguacatera all the way to Cinduli with Mototaxi will cost $50000 pesos. If you have a really big backpack, it might need it’s own Mototaxi, charged separately.

All mototaxi drivers are legally licensed to operate on our roads, are expert drivers and know the road like nobody else.Make sure you listen to their instructions, sit as close to the driver as you can and be prepared to walk some parts of the way where the hill is extra steep.

Dry season / rainy season

  • Dry season (December – March & June – September)
  • Rainy season (April – May & October – November)

While during the dry season the roads are in better conditions, our rainy season is when the forest is more alive. We have a great diversity of trees that give us their fruits. Especially our Cacao who will have pods in different stages of maturation adorning its branches and thousands of flowers that will result in the next harvest.
